BF Contracting Engineering has a story to tell after 20 years of cleaning homeless encampments under contract with the California Department of Transportation. The company is seeking a movie deal to share its roadmap for ending homelessness in America—one that could serve as a model for the entire United States.
With the company being Black-owned, discriminatory practices at Caltrans led to a lawsuit in the Superior Court of the State of California. The final outcome of the case is still pending.
Can a movie end homelessness in America?
A single movie cannot end homelessness in America, but a powerful film can spark national awareness, shift public perception, influence policymakers, and mobilize communities. Movies shape culture—they change how people see one another and what issues they demand leaders address. A well-crafted film that tells the truth about homelessness, highlights systemic failures, and presents real solutions can inspire action, attract funding, and drive political will. While a movie alone cannot solve the crisis, it can become a catalyst that accelerates change, unites diverse groups, and pushes the nation toward meaningful, lasting solutions.
